It's especially bad at the first level where it's actually weaker than those skills. It's about as powerful as the Arbalest and Jester skill, while targetting only 1 enemy instead of 3~4. And the accuracy debuff is rather weak, you're usually better off just stacking the dodge skill. It only reduces the accuracy of a single foe if you can both hit them and debuff them. The only way this skill is every going to be useful is if you have other characters spamming Blight attacks on a boss who is moderately resistant to them (but vulnerable to debuff).įinally the flashbang. And then the bonus damage from that debuff won't be very large, it's just a single Blight effect. The only way it's going to be useful is if you manage to debuff a target, hit it with another blight skill (hitting it with this one is useless, the blight damage is too low for the lowered resist to be important), and then the monster just barely fails his blight resist test. The Abomination deals the same debuff to twice as many target while doing much better damage. The damage is pathetic, and the debuff to Blight resist is far from useful enough. Since she isn't attracting attacks in another way (and stepping back makes her less of a target), there's too little chance of that doing something. A moderate increase in defense to a single character is just not normally worth wasting a turn on, it's a simple matter of action economics. You can get it to get some defense while you move her back in the rear when the Antiquarian is shuffled to the front (or the hero behind her needs to step forward to use a skill). For example, with a Man-At-Arms using his protect on a character and the antiquarian making him protect her, he can rack up huge amounts of protect that covers most of the party. Protect Me looked weak at first, but it actually has a lot of potential when used in the right combo. Most fights don't really last long enough for that sort of buff to be really worth it, though. The team dodge buff looks like a weaker version of the man-at-arms', but it's decent. Her stab is not impressive (especially since she lacks damage), but it's reliable for a support character her attack isn't bad, the accuracy and versatility makes it often useful. However, even a weak heal can be useful, especially to drag a character out of death's door. her heal is pathetic, being equal with the weak heals in the game without the side-effect. It's really important for the game to make it clear that she allows larger gold stacks, and can find extra loot to sell. My experience with the Antiquarian: at first I thought she was totally useless (and so did my friend), it's only upon checking the wiki that I realized why she was there. Specifically, a master of 'ambient effect', someone who helps or hinders just by being around. If her heal was turned into a party aoe (without changing the hp amounts), and turning her blight attack into an aoe (while cutting it's damage output by perhaps half), she'd make for a much more useful and interesting character. Not to mention dodging is notoriously unreliable. Seriously, 1 hp for a SINGLE target? Her +Dodge skill is pretty much her only saving grace, but it takes three turns to ramp up to full, and then she's stuck maintaing it for the rest of the battle. Protect Me is interesting, but only serves to highlight her role as dead weight. Her attacks are only good at chipping away at single enemies (or finishing nearly-dead ones). What is a problem is not having useful characters to bring along on a trip. I can always make more runs for money, that's never been a problem for me. She's pretty much dead weight otherwise.Which makes her seriously underpowered in my eyes. As far as I can tell, money is her one and only value to a team.
